KT Cloud said on the 6th that it opened Gasan AI Data Center (hereafter Gasan AI DC), the nation's first commercial data center applying liquid cooling (Liquid Cooling) technology.
Gasan AI DC is a hyperscale AI infrastructure hub built to proactively respond to the surging demand for AI computation and data centered on the Seoul metropolitan area, and through it, KT Cloud has secured a strategic foothold to accelerate domestic corporations' adoption of AI and transition to AX (AI Transformation). This data center has a total floor area of 11,046 pyeong, five basement levels and 10 above-ground floors, with a total power intake capacity of 40MW and IT capacity of 26MW. Through a design centered on high-density and ultra-high-density zones optimized for AI computation, it realizes an environment optimized for operating high-performance AI infrastructure.
KT Cloud adopted liquid cooling technology to efficiently control the heat generated by high-performance GPU servers. This technology uses a D2C (Direct to Chip) method that attaches a cold plate to the GPU chip and brings chilled water into direct contact, thereby controlling the high-heat environment of AI servers and verifying performance. In addition, through the "AI Innovation Center," it plans to validate various energy-saving technologies and advance them to a commercialization-ready level.
Gasan AI DC is the first in the country to offer the "Colo.AI" service, providing an integrated turnkey AI infrastructure service that includes custom GPU servers, dedicated networks, operating platforms, and maintenance. This supports corporations struggling to build AI environments so they can operate AI services quickly and stably. Currently, various AI corporations are using this service to stably carry out large-scale AI model training and service operations.
Starting with Gasan AI DC, KT Cloud plans to build more than 500MW of infrastructure over the mid to long term at major domestic hubs, including the western region, and aims to lead the great transition to AX.
