SK AX said on the 5th that it has begun building the "WAIV platform," an artificial intelligence (AI)-based manufacturing process optimization project being promoted by CS WIND, a wind tower manufacturer.
CS WIND operates production subsidiaries in seven countries, including the United States, Vietnam, Denmark and Portugal, and is a renewable energy corporations that supplies offshore and onshore wind power structures worldwide.
Earlier, in Aug., SK AX conducted a feasibility review for introducing AI agents at CS WIND's U.S. plant. It converted the work status board, which had been managed manually on a whiteboard, into a digital Kanban and enabled data to be accumulated on a cloud basis. Through this, it applied on-site an "AI work order" service that allows AI to automatically generate work orders.
This buildout aims to apply the feasibility results to CS WIND's U.S. and Portugal subsidiaries to achieve AI-based production process optimization. It will later expand to all seven subsidiaries worldwide.
The WAIV platform being built will link key backbone system data such as ERP (enterprise resource planning) and MES (manufacturing execution system) on a cloud basis to enable real-time inquiry and use, and provide a framework that can monitor key indicators by country and by business sites on a single screen.
Based on the AX platform, SK AX will also implement an agentic AI framework in which people and AI work together across CS WIND's production sites and office areas.
Won Jin-hui, head of management innovation at CS WIND, said, "Through the results of applying AI agents at the U.S. plant in Aug., we were able to confirm the effect of AX (AI transformation)," adding, "Together with SK AX, we will implement a new manufacturing model in which the entire process from production to management is transformed based on data and AI."
Kim Min-hyeok, head of manufacturing and global business at SK AX, said, "Together with CS WIND, we will implement a global manufacturing operating model based on agentic AI tailored to the characteristics of the renewable energy industry."
