Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Jae-yong is reportedly coordinating a meeting next week with Mercedes-Benz Chairman Ola Källenius.
According to industry sources on Feb. 6, Lee is said to be coordinating a meeting schedule with Källenius, who will visit Korea to attend the Mercedes-Benz conference on Feb. 14. There is also a possibility that Samsung Display President Lee Chung will join the meeting.
Samsung and Benz are currently cooperating on in-vehicle infotainment systems, digital keys, and more. Harman, Samsung Electronics' automotive and audio subsidiary, supplies the MBUX platform, a next-generation infotainment system applied to the Mercedes-Benz EQS electric vehicle, and the two also collaborate in in-car audio.
The meeting is reportedly expected to focus on collaboration in semiconductors and displays that has not yet been finalized. The Device Solutions (DS) institutional sector, which oversees Samsung Electronics' semiconductor business, supplies automotive chips, and Samsung Display is already said to have entered discussions to supply automotive organic light-emitting diode (OLED) panels.
