SOCAR said on the 6th it has introduced a "mobile driver's license verification" feature that lets users confirm driving eligibility without a physical driver's license.
Until now, SOCAR carried out license verification by having users photograph their physical driver's license and enter the license number manually. As a result, users who did not have a physical license on hand could not register as members immediately or faced delays in reservations.
An analysis of inquiries received by SOCAR's customer center found that about 37% of license-related inquiries were about the verification process. SOCAR introduced the mobile driver's license verification feature to resolve these customer inconveniences and build a faster, simpler, contactless verification environment. It also considered the spread of the mobile driver's license, which surpassed 4 million issuances as of the end of last year.
The mobile driver's license verification process is simple. In the driver's license registration menu, select the mobile license instead of the physical one, then verify driving eligibility through the government's mobile ID app. Verification is completed within one minute without separate information entry or photo capture, and once license approval is finished, the result is sent via AlimTalk.
Shin Seung-hwan, head of SOCAR's Common Platform PM Team, said, "Since the release of the mobile driver's license verification feature at the end of September, inquiries related to license registration have decreased by 53%, showing a clear service improvement effect," and added, "We plan to expand integration beyond the currently supported government mobile ID to include mobile driver's license verification through private apps."
