POSCO DX apologized for the death of a subcontractor's worker that occurred at POSCO's Pohang steelworks on the 5th and said it would draw up measures to prevent a recurrence.
POSCO DX said in an apology statement that it prays for the repose of the deceased, who sadly passed away in an unexpected accident, and offers deep condolences and apologies to the bereaved family, adding that it is devastated and overwhelmed with grief that a precious life was lost at the accident site.
It continued that POSCO DX has set up an accident response task force and is doing its utmost in cooperation with the relevant authorities to determine the exact cause of the accident, and that it will explore every possible measure to prevent a recurrence of safety accidents through a thorough investigation of the cause.
It added that it would spare no support for the bereaved family, who are in deep sorrow after losing a family member, and would make every effort to treat the injured workers.
At about 8:50 a.m. on the previous day, four workers from a subcontractor of POSCO DX who were inspecting equipment at the stainless steel annealing powder plant at the Pohang steelworks were taken to a hospital after inhaling a gas of unidentified composition during pre-repair work on equipment, and one of them lost their life.
