Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics said on the 6th that they racked up a large number of Innovation Awards ahead of CES 2026, the world's largest IT and home appliance show to be held in Las Vegas in January.
That day, Samsung Electronics released that it won a total of 27 awards, including three Best of Innovation awards, in the CES Innovation Awards announced by the Consumer Technology Association (CTA) on the 5th (local time). LG Electronics said it won a total of 18 Innovation Awards, including two Best of Innovation awards. Each year ahead of the opening of CES, the CTA selects the most innovative products and services and confers the CES Innovation Awards.
Samsung Electronics said selections were evenly spread across all business lines, including 12 in video display, four in home appliances, three in mobile, seven in semiconductors, and one for Harman. In video display, it received 10 Innovation Awards for new TVs and monitors, including two Best of Innovation awards, and in home appliances, it won four Innovation Awards for features such as the "refrigerator auto open door."
In mobile, "Galaxy XR," "Galaxy Z Fold7," and "Galaxy Watch8" were chosen as winners. "Galaxy XR" is an XR headset optimized for Multimodal AI that supports voice-, gaze-, and gesture-based interaction, and "Galaxy Watch8" is the first smartwatch to feature "antioxidant index" measurement. It also supports voice commands based on Wear OS 6 and Gemini. In semiconductors, the quantum security chip "S3SSE2A" won Best of Innovation simultaneously in cybersecurity and embedded technologies. In addition, "LPDDR6," "PM9E1," "Detachable AutoSSD," "ISOCELL Image Sensor HP5," and "T7 Resurrected" received Innovation Awards. Harman's "JBL Tour One M3 Smart Tx" also won an Innovation Award.
LG Electronics said its transparent, wireless OLED TV "Signature OLED T" won Best of Innovation, marking the fourth straight year an LG OLED TV has earned CES' top honor. The product features a transparent 4K display, wireless AV transmission and reception technology, and a 77-inch large screen. LG Electronics also drew attention at this year's APEC summit by showcasing a giant chandelier made with 28 OLED T units.
The smart TV platform "webOS" took two crowns by winning Innovation Awards in both cybersecurity and artificial intelligence. It earned high marks for its proven stability through 260 million TVs worldwide and AI-based personalized services. The new robot vacuum "Hidden Station" features steam functions in both the main unit and the station, and won an Innovation Award in home appliances with a built-in design that can be concealed under a sink.
LG Innotek won a CES 2026 Innovation Award for its in-vehicle "ultra-slim pixel lighting module," securing the vehicle lighting technology institutional sector award for the second straight year. The new product uses white silicone optical components to achieve a 3 mm structure that is 71% thinner than before, replaces plastic lenses to reduce weight, and improves luminous efficiency by 30%. It also supports V2X (vehicle-to-everything) functions that display text, images, and animations, enabling vehicle-to-vehicle communication and drivers' personal expression.
