NEOWIZ said on the 5th that cumulative sales of its console game "Lies of P" surpassed 3 million copies two years after release. The figure combines the main game released in 2023 and the "Lies of P" DLC (downloadable content) unveiled in June this year.
NEOWIZ said, "With more than 90% of sales coming from Western markets such as North America and Europe, it has established itself as a global intellectual property (IP) representing Korea."
"Lies of P: Prologue," a prequel (a story set earlier in time) to "Lies of P," reached No. 1 overall in Korea and No. 1 in the global paid category on Steam's "Top Sellers" chart right after release. It received a score of 85 on both Metacritic and OpenCritic. On OpenCritic, it earned a 100% "Critics Recommend" rating.
Recently, it was nominated in the "Best Expansion" category at the U.K.-based global video game awards "Golden Joystick Awards 2025."
"Lies of P: Prologue" will also vie for a main award at the "2025 Korea Game Awards" to be held on the 12th. As the main game in 2023 won six awards including the grand prize (the President's Award), the DLC is likewise considered a strong contender.
The "Lies of P" IP, a reinterpretation of the Italian fairy tale "Pinocchio," was independently developed by Round8 Studio under NEOWIZ. According to NEOWIZ, both the main game and the DLC succeeded commercially thanks to weighty, impactful combat, a solid story, and excellent optimization.
Round8 Studio under NEOWIZ is currently working on multiple PC and console projects, including the next installment of Lies of P. An industry official said, "The success of 'Lies of P' shows that Korea's game industry has the potential to expand from a mobile-centric market to the console market."
