Laftel, an animation-focused OTT (over-the-top) platform, said on the 4th that it has launched a real-time live streaming service.
With the new real-time live service, Laftel users can watch the latest anime airing in Japan simultaneously on Laftel without waiting until the VOD (video on demand) release. The real-time live service is available by going to the "now live" tab on the Laftel home screen.
In that tab, users can intuitively browse currently airing program information and schedules from the ANIPLUS or Animax broadcast channels. A joint programming strategy with ANIPLUS, the parent company, and affiliate Animax Broadcasting Korea is also expected to gain further momentum.
To improve live viewing convenience, Laftel will let users jump directly to the live player from the existing VOD title detail page for simulcast titles. In addition, by allowing users to purchase merchandise for the title while watching, it plans to offer an integrated experience that links anime viewing with merchandise purchases.
