"Humanoid Robotics is a technology that opens a new horizon for physical AI (artificial intelligence)."
Bernt Bornich (1X Technologies) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) said this in a video presentation on "Humanoid Robotics" at the SK AI Summit 2025 held at COEX in Samseong-dong, Seoul, on Feb. 4, saying "the era when robots live and learn alongside humans is not far off."
He emphasized, "1X Technologies will help raise productivity and independence across society through 'everyday Humanoid Robot' that collaborates with and learns from humans." 1X Technologies is a global Robotics corporations developing the humanlike Humanoid Robot "NEO."
CEO Bornich introduced the effort by saying, "The robots we build are not simple automated machines but intelligent beings that grow within human life." He noted, "The conventional approach of training agents in simulators has limits," adding, "In virtual environments you cannot perfectly reproduce humans, and agents often learn incorrectly by exploiting system flaws."
He said, "Only by having robots learn through trial and error directly in the real world can we achieve true growth in intelligence," and added, "If robots live and learn with us, we can build AI that understands human life more precisely."
CEO Bornich projected that through this "interactive learning," robots will evolve into collaborative partners for humans. He explained, "Robots will help with household chores in homes, converse with people, and explore new knowledge together," adding, "This process will be like collaborating with AI when drafting emails, a form in which humans and machines exchange feedback and advance together."
CEO Bornich also stressed the importance of "data diversity" for the advancement of AI. He said, "Many current AI models are trained on limited data such as YouTube," noting, "This does not reflect the entirety of human life." He added, "If robots learn while interacting with people in the real world, broader and truer human experiences will be accumulated as data, leading to stronger intelligence."
CEO Bornich also expected humanoid technology to contribute to creating social value. He said, "If robots take over simple tasks, people will be able to spend time on more creative and enjoyable work," adding, "In essential areas of society such as care work, it can also ease labor shortages and improve quality of life."
He said, "A Humanoid Robot is not merely a being that mimics the human form, but the first stage of intelligence that can experiment and explore on its own to lead to new scientific discoveries," adding, "The era when AI becomes a true partner that understands and expands the physical world together with humans is not far off."
