Smilegate said on the 3rd that it won the "Transparent Management Award" selected by the Korean Academic Society of Accounting Information.
The Transparent Management Award is given by the Korean Academic Society of Accounting Information to private companies and public institutions that work to improve accounting transparency and practice ethical and win-win management. It strictly evaluates six institutional sectors of corporations: ethical management, financial soundness, corporations' transparent management policies, stakeholder management, compliance and risk management activities, and transparent disclosure.
Seong Jun-ho, Smilegate Group chief executive officer (CEO), was honored with the award for being highly recognized for establishing the group's fair and transparent accounting system and financial reporting framework and actively practicing ethical management. Smilegate, after adopting the Korea International Financial Reporting Standards (K-IFRS) in 2022, built an enterprise resource planning (ERP) system that meets global standards to standardize and automate accounting tasks and enhance the reliability of financial information. It also upgraded the internal accounting management system to a level comparable to listed companies, strengthening the transparency of financial reporting and the effectiveness of internal controls.
In addition, by faithfully complying with accounting standards and disclosure regulations, it established a reliable financial reporting framework, and it institutionalized an ethical management culture through the enactment of a code of ethics, employee training, and the operation of an internal reporting system.
