NEXON GAMES said on the 3rd it will launch the With Young project, a social contribution program to support vulnerable youth called young carers who shoulder family care and livelihood burdens, in partnership with the Nexon Foundation.
Through this project, NEXON GAMES and the Nexon Foundation will donate 100 million won to the Green Umbrella Child Fund (Chair Hwang Young-gi) and pursue tailored support to ease care burdens.
Young carers refers to children and adolescents who look after family members needing care due to illness, disability, or aging, or who take on responsibility for the household's livelihood. They face difficulties in studying, preparing for careers, and forming peer relationships, yet they are not receiving sufficient support due to a lack of social awareness and gaps in the welfare system.
In the first year of the project, 15 young carers in total will be selected through Green Umbrella to receive a care burden reduction package. A care coordinator will establish a care plan tailored to each participant's situation and carry out: ▲ living expense, education, and housing support ▲ regular delivery of groceries and daily necessities ▲ provision of welfare and medical information ▲ linkage to emergency care services.
In addition, NEXON GAMES and the Nexon Foundation plan to continue sustained support by operating cultural experience programs so young carers can step away from caregiving for a while and gain diverse experiences, while also running employee-participation volunteer activities.
Kang In-su, head of business operations at NEXON GAMES, said, "We hope the With Young project will help young carers lessen their caregiving burden and prepare for the future," and added, "NEXON GAMES will continue steady support for their stable growth and independence."
Nexon Foundation Chair Kim Jeong-uk said, "We hope this project serves as an opportunity to raise social awareness of the difficulties facing young carers," and noted, "We will maintain continued interest and responsible support so they can grow into healthy members of society."
