The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Creative Content Agency (KOCCA) said on the 3rd that they will hold the "2025 Game Culture Forum" from the 14th to the 15th at the Busan Exhibition & Convention Center (BEXCO) convention hall in Busan.
This year's forum, under the theme "Games enjoyed by everyone," is organized as a venue where industry and academic experts will discuss game accessibility and inclusivity, as well as the cultural value and social role of esports.
On the first day, the 14th, a range of presentations and discussions related to game accessibility will take place. Kim Hyo-eun, a senior researcher at KOCCA, will present the "Game Accessibility Guidelines," and KAIST Professor Do Young-im will present directions for an inclusive game culture through the case of the AI-based accessibility service "GAIA." This will be followed by Smilegate's Vice Administrator Choi Han-na and staffer Han Ji-soo sharing on-site cases of improving game accessibility.
Afterward, former professional gamer Lee Min-seok, who is visually impaired, will join as a panelist to present the need for and plans to improve accessibility from a user's perspective, followed by an in-depth discussion with the presenters moderated by Song Seok-rok, president of the Korea Esports Industry Society.
On the second day, the 15th, under the theme "The diverse possibilities created by esports," the forum will spotlight the esports industry and fandom culture as K-content. LCK (League of Legends Champions Korea) Secretary-General Lee Jeong-hoon will present the changes and significance of fandom culture, and former LCK head coach Kang Dong-hoon will share his experience operating professional teams. In addition, Ahn Hyo-yeon, Ph.D., from the Institute for Game Science, will provide a scientific analysis of how gameplay affects cognitive improvement.
In the panel discussion, former professional gamer Heo Won-seok (Pawn) and commentator Lee Seo-haeng (Kuro) will join to discuss directions and tasks for industry development based on on-site experience.
Yu Hyeon-seok, acting president of KOCCA, said, "Games are a social language that bridges generations and cultures, and a channel through which K-content communicates with the world," adding, "Through this forum, we will work to spread an inclusive game-culture ecosystem that anyone can enjoy equally and use it as an opportunity to strengthen the global competitiveness of K-games."
