Team NAVER (NAVER) said on the 31st it will begin full-fledged support with Nvidia to drive an artificial intelligence (AI) transition at domestic manufacturing worksites.
Lee Hae-jin, chair of the NAVER board, also attended an afternoon meeting at Gyeongju Hwabaek International Convention Center (HICO) in Gyeongju, North Gyeongsang Province, with President Lee Jae-myung and Nvidia Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Jensen Huang.
In opening remarks, Chair Lee said, "As the shift of automobiles to SDV shows, an era of 'physical AI,' where AI operates within real industrial sites and systems, is opening," adding, "NAVER will use AI and cloud technology to help corporations make better use of data and support the industry in taking a further leap forward."
To that end, Naver Cloud signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Nvidia to jointly develop a next-generation "physical AI" platform that organically links the real and digital spaces. Focusing on national flagship industries such as semiconductors, shipbuilding, and energy, the two companies plan to build AI infrastructure to support the use of AI on industrial sites.
The foundation of the collaboration is the "physical AI platform." The two companies will combine Naver Cloud's next-generation capabilities in Digital Twin and Robotics with Nvidia's 3D simulation and robotics platforms such as Omniverse and Isaac Sim to precisely replicate real industrial environments in virtual space and implement the physical AI platform so AI can support analysis, decision-making, and control.
NAVER said this collaboration is particularly the first step toward actually realizing the "Sovereign AI 2.0" vision presented by Naver Cloud. While the existing Sovereign AI focused on securing technological sovereignty by building AI models and ecosystems centered on a country's language and culture, Sovereign AI 2.0 is an evolved concept that expands this to core national industries and everyday life to enhance national competitiveness.
