Uber Taxi said on the 30th that, together with the Korea Tourism Organization (KTO), it will operate a sightseeing tour using the "Uber Taxi rickshaw" in Gyeongju through Nov. 2.
The tour was prepared to support the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit and to provide a special mobility experience for domestic and international visitors to Gyeongju. The course is a circular route connecting Gyeongju's signature attractions, including Cheomseongdae, Daereungwon, and Hwangridan-gil. Visitors can download and verify the Uber app or the audio tour guide app "Odii" at the "Uber Taxi Rickshaw Stop" set up at the temporary parking lot in the Jjoksaem District near Cheomseongdae to use the service for free. Hours of operation are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The Uber Taxi rickshaw tour also offers themed commentary content through the Korea Tourism Organization (KTO)'s audio tour guide app "Odii." Through audio guides covering the history and cultural significance of major attractions such as Cheomseongdae, Daereungwon, and Hwangridan-gil, the service is designed to help visitors enjoy a deeper trip. It also provides multilingual services in English, Japanese, and Chinese (simplified and traditional) to enhance convenience for foreign tourists.
During the event period, an event will also run in which those who upload a boarding verification photo of the "Uber Taxi rickshaw" to their personal social networking service (SNS) and tag the Uber Taxi account will receive a ride coupon worth up to 10,000 won.
An Uber Taxi official said, "This is an event prepared so that domestic and international visitors can experience Gyeongju's beautiful attractions as APEC approaches," adding, "We will continue to work with the Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) and local governments to brand Korea as a global destination that can be traveled safely and conveniently."
Uber Taxi operates in more than 70 countries and over 10,000 cities, and foreign visitors to Korea can request taxis in Korea using the same Uber app they used at home without installing a separate app. A real-time translation feature that enables smooth communication with drivers is also a key feature.
Meanwhile, in July, Uber Taxi signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) and has been carrying out various activities to revitalize regional tourism. Through the Odii app, it introduces the "Uber Taxi driver-recommended driving course," and continues collaboration by offering Uber Taxi ride benefits at the Korea tourism promotion centers "HiKR Station" and "HiKR Ground."
