Samsung Electronics said on Oct. 30 in its conference call for third-quarter 2025 earnings that "demand for high bandwidth memory (HBM) is growing faster than supply, and we are expanding HBM3E sales to all customers." It effectively made official that it has begun supplying HBM3E to Nvidia.
Regarding HBM4, it said, "As we said at the end of Jul. in our earnings announcement, we have already completed development and shipped samples to all customers, and we are prepared for mass-production shipments in line with customers' project schedules," adding, "As GPU performance competition has recently intensified among customers, major customers are changing their existing plans and demanding higher-performance HBM4, and Samsung Electronics incorporated these needs in advance from the outset of HBM4 development."
It added, "The samples currently delivered to customers can fully meet performance of 11 Gbps or higher with low power."
It also said, "Next year's HBM production plan has been set to be expanded very significantly compared with this year, and we have already secured customer demand for the planned volume," adding, "As additional customer demand continues to be received, we are internally reviewing the possibility of increasing HBM production."
