Samsung Electronics unveiled a real-life version of its twice-folding smartphone, the "trifold phone," for the first time on the 28th at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) CEO Summit.
According to the information technology (IT) industry, at around 9 a.m. that day, the Samsung Electronics booth at the "K-Tech Showcase," a side event of the APEC CEO Summit held at the Gyeongju Expo Park Air Dome, publicly revealed the trifold phone in person for the first time.
The trifold phone, which Samsung Electronics has signaled it will release within the year, goes a step beyond the existing two-panel folding "Fold" series with a structure that allows the screen to fold twice. Unlike typical foldable phones, the unveiled trifold phone has two hinges at the folding sections. When the screen is fully unfolded, it measures about 10 inches. This is the first time a trifold has been shown in person.
The detailed specifications of the "trifold phone" are expected to be revealed at an official event in late November to early December.
