Microsoft (MS) on the 24th unveiled a new character, "Mico," symbolizing its artificial intelligence (AI) service Copilot.
Mustafa Suleyman, MS chief executive officer (CEO) for AI, said on the 23rd (local time), "Technology should work for humans, and the purpose of AI is not to replace human judgment but to enhance it," and explained, "Our Copilot is evolving into something that helps better decisions, sparks creativity, and deepens relationships."
The character Mico is named after the initials of Microsoft Copilot, and it interacts with users through voice, facial expressions, and color changes.
MS introduced 12 new features through the Copilot Fall Update, including Groups, Connectors, a health Copilot, and Learn Live for education. The Groups feature is a collaboration tool in which up to 32 people can work together in real time in a single session, with Copilot supporting conversation summaries, voting, and task distribution.
Connectors bundle content from services such as OneDrive, Outlook, Gmail, and Google Drive to enable natural-language search and retrieval.
MS is expanding Copilot across Windows, Edge, and the broader browser environment. You can start a conversation anytime with the wake phrase "Hey Copilot." The new Copilot home allows you to return instantly to recent documents or conversations.
The Edge browser offers a Copilot mode that summarizes and compares open tabs or directly handles tasks such as booking hotels and filling out forms.
CEO Suleyman said, "Advancing AI in a more useful and human direction is our mission," and noted, "This update is a new stage in which technology connects humans and the world."
