IGAworks' ad revenue monetization platform AdPopcorn said on the 21st that it has partnered with PayPay, Japan's No. 1 QR code payment service, and will officially launch "Reward Ads Plus" in the Japanese market in Nov. The agreement was carried out at PayPay's Tokyo headquarters with key officials from both companies in attendance.
"Reward Ads Plus" is a service that gives users points they can use in everyday life along with in-game items when they watch ads in a game. In Japan, PayPay points are awarded, and in Korea, Naver Pay points are provided as rewards, resulting in roughly double the ad participation rate and an increase of more than 40% in long-term users.
The service is differentiated in that it reduces the fatigue of repetitive ad viewing and naturally encourages participation. Users can gain both the fun of the game and benefits in daily life, while game companies and advertisers can expect stable revenue and efficient marketing effects.
AdPopcorn plans to expand the service to the North American market after unveiling a Taiwan version in Dec., starting with the Japan launch. A reward model tailored to each country's local payment ecosystem will be applied.
AdPopcorn CEO Kim Heung-taek said, "The collaboration with PayPay signifies the global expansion of the K-reward ad model that has been validated in Korea," adding, "Starting with this Japan launch, we will build a new revenue monetization ecosystem in the global market."
