Nate Communications said on the 20th that its messenger service NateOn is launching a large-scale improvement project based on user feedback. The overhaul is part of a "VOC (Voice of Customer)–based improvement project" that actively reflects opinions gathered through social media, including the official Threads channel, with a focus on strengthening usability and reliability.
As a first step, NateOn will completely halt ads on the mobile version. The company said it made a bold decision to "focus on the messenger's intrinsic value and user experience over commercial elements," explaining the background.
Starting in late Oct., updates will roll out in phases with the goal of creating a "frictionless messenger." When messages are deleted in chat rooms, the trace "This message has been deleted" will no longer remain. In group chats, a "force removal" feature that allows a host to remove specific users and a "hide online status" option that conceals the status of a user's connected devices will be newly added to the mobile (iOS, AOS) and Mac versions. On PC, the "Turbo Cleaner" feature will be removed and full-screen ad settings will be adjusted to provide a lighter and more comfortable environment.
Security enhancements are also a key task. By late Nov., the service will introduce "two-factor authentication (2FA)" to strengthen account security and expand collaboration with major domestic security specialists. A "select all" feature (AOS) will be added to the mobile file box, and a "privacy setting" feature will be added to the news area on the PC version.
NateOn will also move toward adding to the joy of communication, grounded in a highly reliable user environment. In addition to the existing "my own emojis" feature, it plans to introduce a new emoji series that reflects the latest trends.
