Apple said on the 15th (local time) that it will release new MacBook Pro, iPad Pro and Vision Pro models equipped with its in-house next-generation chip, the "M5."
Preorders begin today, and the products will launch on the 22nd of this month, the company said.
Apple said the devices are equipped with its in-house M5 chip. According to the company, the M5, built on third-generation 3-nanometer technology, introduces a next-generation 10-core graphics processing unit (GPU) with a Neural Accelerator on each core, delivering a dramatic speedup for GPU-based artificial intelligence (AI) tasks.
Apple said the M5 provides more than up to four times the GPU computing performance and up to 45% improved graphics performance compared with the M4.
For the new iPad Pro, AI performance is up to 3.5 times better than the model with the M4 chip, and Apple's newly designed wireless networking chip, "N1," supports Wi-Fi 7.
The iPad Pro will come in 11-inch and 13-inch sizes, starting at $999 and $1,299, respectively, the same as before.
Apple said that for the first time this year, Korea is included among the first launch countries for the iPad Pro, and it will be available for purchase domestically on the 22nd.
The new Vision Pro mixed reality (MR) headset improves performance compared with the first version released last year. While the earlier Vision had the M2 chip, the new model is equipped with the latest M5 chip.
Apple said the new Vision Pro delivers a more enhanced spatial experience and implements Apple Intelligence features with additional supported languages. It also features a custom micro-OLED display that shows sharper images than before.
Vision Pro's battery life is longer, and the band that contacts the head when wearing the device is equipped with a cushioned "dual knit band." Vision Pro's price also starts at $3,499, the same as before.
The new 14-inch MacBook Pro is the first in Apple's laptop lineup to feature the M5 chip, delivering faster AI and graphics performance than before, and battery life has increased to up to 24 hours. The price remains $1,599.
