Samsung Electronics has decided to extend the domestic warranty period for tablet PCs from one year to two years, in line with overseas, starting next year.
Kim Hyeon of the Democratic Party of Korea on the National Assembly Science. ICT. Broadcasting. and Communications Committee said on the 13th that during a parliamentary audit of the Ministry of Science and ICT at the Government Complex Sejong, Samsung Electronics responded that it would apply a two-year tablet PC warranty starting next year.
Samsung Electronics said, "A two-year warranty period will apply only to products purchased on or after Jan. 1 next year." Products purchased this year will continue to have a one-year warranty. It will not be applied retroactively.
At last year's parliamentary audit, Rep. Kim pointed out that while the warranty period for Samsung Electronics tablet PCs is two years in some overseas markets such as France, the United Kingdom, and Italy, it is one year domestically.
