At about 4:59 a.m. on the 2nd, a fire broke out in the machine room at the LOTTE Innovate Daejeon Center in Jang-dong, Yuseong District, Daejeon.
After receiving a report from an employee that "a fire is breaking out in the machine room" and responding, the fire authorities deployed 21 pieces of equipment, including pump trucks, and 62 personnel, and fully extinguished the blaze in 39 minutes, at about 5:38 a.m.
All four workers evacuated on their own, and while two of them merely inhaled smoke, there were no further injuries.
LOTTE Innovate operates data centers in Seoul and Daejeon, and is known to conduct mainly disaster recovery (data backup) operations in Daejeon.
Fire authorities believe the blaze started in an uninterruptible power supply (UPS) in the machine room and are investigating the exact cause.
