Amazon, the world's largest e-commerce company, held a product event on the 30th (local time) and unveiled the next-generation Echo speaker, the Kindle e-reader, and the Ring smart home security camera, all featuring its own artificial intelligence (AI) voice assistant "Alexa+."
After first introducing the Alexa voice assistant in 2014, Amazon revamped it in September 2023 and in February rolled out the upgraded generative AI Alexa+. Because the new products unveiled that day are equipped with Alexa+, the devices can carry on natural conversations with users.
The new Kindle remembers where a user left off in a book to help them resume reading. The new Echo speaker connects not only with smart devices in the home but also with security systems to deliver tailored alerts by situation. The Ring camera recognizes faces and notifies the user when a registered face passes in front. The new Fire TV offers personalized search features for specific scenes in movies and more.
Amazon equipped the new products with its in-house AZ3 and AZ3 Pro chips for edge processing to boost performance and processing speed. It also enhanced Alexa's contextual awareness through a new platform called Omnisense.
