Morita Jun, head of Asia at Perplexity, said at "AI Festa 2025," held on the 30th at Coex in Samseong-dong, Seoul, that "the core value of the artificial intelligence (AI) era is curiosity."
Morita said, "AI may be able to replace some tasks and roles, but the inherent value of humans will not be replaced." He meant that creativity, curiosity, and the ability to ask questions cannot be replaced.
Morita said, "Perplexity's meetings always start with questions, and even in development we place problem definition and the process of deriving questions as key steps," adding, "Good questions are the first step to getting quality answers, and better questions are the starting point for opening new knowledge."
He went on to stress the importance of "trustworthy answers," saying, "When accuracy is added to curiosity, it can lead to real action." He said, "We define AI hallucinations not as a 'creative function' but as a clear 'bug,'" adding, "Technology that enables the presentation of verifiable sources and accurate data extraction is Perplexity's most powerful competitive edge."
He also introduced Perplexity's latest updates. With the newly released "Email Assistant," users can leverage AI search and answers while drafting emails. By using the "Slack Assistant," they can get the information they need right within Slack conversations and make work decisions, and with the Comet browser, they can enjoy a new exploration experience that goes beyond questions and answers to connect to real actions.
