LG CNS said on the 1st it will push into the Middle East market with AX technology specialized for manufacturing sites.

LG CNS, the first among domestic IT corporations, took part in IDCE 2025 held in Bahrain from Sept. 30 to Oct. 2 and introduced "Manufacturing AX" technology that can support the intelligence and automation of oil industry sites.

IDCE (International Downstream Conference & Exhibition) is the Middle East's largest oil and refining industry exhibition, hosted by the Gulf Downstream Association (GDA), in which major petrochemical corporations such as Saudi Aramco and the Bahrain Petroleum Company (BAPCO) participate. This year, a variety of corporations from about 50 countries showcased refining industry technologies and energy solutions.

Under the theme of "AI-based intelligent plant transition," LG CNS set up a joint booth with S-OIL and demonstrated ▲ flare stack optimization system ▲ process hazard analysis AI agent ▲ PSM (process safety management) AI tutor ▲ AI accident reporting system.

The flagship solution, the "flare stack optimization system," is a technology that monitors the condition of flare stacks, which burn and emit combustible gases, 24 hours a day through AI video analysis and AI CCTV. It analyzes the color of smoke and the state of the flame, and when an abnormality is detected, it automatically controls valves and other devices to enhance process stability.

The "process hazard analysis AI agent" automatically analyzes plant equipment drawings and specifications to reduce evaluation time and increase accuracy. Previously, the work was done manually, which took a long time and had limitations in that results varied depending on the operator's proficiency.

The "PSM AI tutor" is an AI-based mock interview program used to check employees' safety awareness among process safety management inspection items, reducing constraints of time and place compared with in-person training to support efficient learning.

The "AI accident reporting system" automates the reporting and filing process when disasters such as fires or accidents causing injury occur. When on-site photos or voice memos are sent via mobile, AI analyzes them to classify the type and severity, prepares a report, and handles internal reporting and notifications to safety authorities.

LG CNS and S-OIL signed an agreement in February this year to build an intelligent plant and have been carrying out projects to apply AX technology to refining industry sites.

At the event, LG CNS CEO Hyun Sin-gyun met with Hussain A. Al Qahtani, Aramco's head of refining, and discussed cooperation plans to internalize AX technology based on Manufacturing AX case studies.

Hyun said, "AI-based factory intelligence is the core of manufacturing innovation," and "we will support global customers in driving change through AX technologies and case studies that can be used directly at manufacturing sites."
