The Internet Newspaper Ethics Committee (INSEIN) said on the 1st that the number of outlets participating in the committee's self-regulation exceeded 870 as of the end of 4th.
Since 2019, INSEIN has expelled dozens of outlets each year for violating mandatory compliance requirements under the Newspaper Act, serious ethical violations, and failure to fulfill basic obligations as participating outlets. Yet the number of participating outlets has steadily increased, surpassing 870. According to INSEIN, the number of outlets signing the participation pledge is also continuing to rise.
An INSEIN official said, "We will continue fair and strict deliberations to create an internet news environment that the public can trust," adding, "We will continue to move forward as a self-regulatory body with firm independence and as a public-interest institution that represents only the interests of the public."
