Kakao Mobility said on the 30th that, as in Korea, users can now hail taxis in real time on Kakao T in Guam.
Kakao T users can call Guam taxis right away on site through the overseas travel menu in the in-app Travel tab, and foreign tourists can do so by launching the global mobility platform Keiride app. In addition, the Guam taxi reservation service can be requested not only locally in Guam but from anywhere overseas. In particular, for airport pickup taxi reservations, users only need to enter their flight information, and the driver will wait according to the arrival time, allowing convenient use without worry even if the flight is delayed.
The Guam taxi service provided through Kakao T and Keiride features a safe and convenient travel environment, including the following: ▲ It operates on a pre-confirmed flat fare system that allows transparent fare checks ▲ All vehicles can carry up to six passengers, and enrollment in a reassurance insurance policy supports local medical expenses in the event of an accident. In addition, user convenience has been enhanced through features such as ▲ Message auto-translation, which translates conversations between drivers and passengers in real time ▲ Reassurance message, which shares real-time location and estimated arrival time.
Kakao Mobility has partnered with Miki Taxi Service, the largest local taxi brand with more than 30 years of operating experience, and since 2022 has provided taxi and airport pickup reservation services in Guam through Kakao T. To this end, Kakao Mobility built infrastructure spanning the platform, driver app, and admin. It also operates a Guam leisure service based on partnerships with leading local corporations, offering a variety of local experiences such as city taxi tours and dolphin cruises.
This rollout of real-time taxi hailing became possible as Kakao Mobility launched a global dedicated taxi driver app in Guam. The company said the move is significant because it established a foundation that encompasses the entire service, from demand and supply apps to the control system, rather than a simple roaming model.
Vice President An Gyu-jin, chief business officer (CBO) of Kakao Mobility, said, "It is meaningful that we are providing real-time taxi hailing by directly applying technology and operational know-how proven domestically to overseas on-site supply infrastructure," and added, "We hope that domestic and international travelers visiting Guam during the upcoming Chuseok holiday will enjoy convenient and safe mobility on site through taxi hailing and reservation services."
