Private cloud providers are expected to take part in the restoration of the computer systems that were completely destroyed by a fire at the National Information Resources Service's Daejeon headquarters.
According to the cloud industry on the 29th, NHN Cloud obtained government certification for compliance with the national cloud security standards on the 25th. The government is pushing to restore services by transferring 96 systems that were completely destroyed by the fire to the Daegu center. In the industry, there is a strong view that NHN Cloud, which obtained a higher-tier security certification last week, is likely to become a key partner in the government's Daegu center transfer project.
The National Information Resources Daegu Center built a public-private partnership cloud (PPP) last year to allow administrative and public institutions to use private cloud services. A cloud company seeking to operate the PPP cloud there must obtain government certification that it can run public data stably without security issues.
Earlier, in Jun., Samsung SDS's cloud platform and KT Cloud's infrastructure service entered the public sector first after receiving a "high" grade for infrastructure as a service (IaaS).
An NHN Cloud official said, "We will cooperate closely with the government's administrative service migration work to help resolve the situation quickly."
By using the PPP cloud, private cloud infrastructure can be put to immediate use without building separate infrastructure, leading to expectations that services for the suspended systems can be restored quickly.
