Naver said on the 26th that it will run online and offline campaigns and training that stakeholders, including service users and partner companies, can join to mark "Personal Information Protection Day" (Sept. 30) and Privacy Protection Week.
First, on the 23rd, it unveiled the "Naver Privacy Center." The overhaul was prepared to guide users more easily and transparently through Naver's policies, technologies, and knowledge related to personal information protection, with a user-centered approach.
The initial screen was redesigned intuitively so anyone can conveniently check the personal information protection policy. Features such as search and English support based on Naver Papago translation were also added to improve user convenience.
To mark the full overhaul of the Privacy Center, Naver is also holding an event. Users who explore the revamped Privacy Center pages and find the total number of star images hidden throughout the pages will be entered into a drawing to receive Naver Pay points if they answer correctly.
From the 29th of this month to Oct. 10, if you submit suggestions or improvements related to Naver's personal information and privacy through PER (Privacy Enhancement Reward, a system for collecting user opinions for privacy protection and rewarding cases), the basic reward will be doubled and up to tripled.
On the 30th, it will release "personal information protection practice videos" tailored to the characteristics of general users and business members, and it will also run a quiz event that viewers can join after watching. On Oct. 1, a child-focused event will follow.
Programs for business operators, including partner companies and small business owners, have also been prepared. On the 30th, personal information protection training will be held for managers at subcontractors who share responsibility for handling and protecting personal information in Naver services.
On Oct. 1, through campaign emails or notices to business members, Naver plans to share personal information protection rules and guidelines infused with its know-how with a variety of businesses, including small business owners.
During Privacy Protection Week, Naver also plans to run various campaigns to raise privacy awareness among employees and provide training on the processing and use of pseudonymized information that can be applied in practice.
