The Ministry of Science and ICT said on the 25th that the "Physical AI Global Alliance," which will include participation from major domestic and overseas corporations, institutions, and research entities in the field of physical artificial intelligence (AI), will launch on the 29th.
Aiming to secure global leadership in physical AI technology, seven co-chairs will serve: the Ministers of the Ministry of Science and ICT, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, and the Ministry of SMEs and Startups; National Assembly members Jeong Dong-young (Democratic Party of Korea) and Choi Hyeong-du (People Power Party) of the Science. ICT. Broadcasting. and Communications Committee; the head of the Korea Artificial Intelligence Software Industry Association; and the head of the Korea Automobile & Mobility Association.
Physical AI corporations, universities, and research institutes, including Hyundai Motor, HD Hyundai Heavy Industries, and LG AI Research, will take part, and it is expected to serve as an industry-academia-research collaboration platform.
The Physical AI Global Alliance will be composed of 10 divisions, including technology, solutions, and governance.
Im Woo-hyung, head of LG AI Research, will lead the technology division; Kim Yoo-won, CEO of Naver Cloud, will lead the solutions division; Min Ki-sik, CEO of SK shieldus, will lead the governance division; Lee Kwang-hyung, president of the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), will lead the talent division; and Yoon Jeong-won, CEO of Amazon Web Services (AWS) Korea, will lead the global cooperation division.
Lee Dong-seock, CEO of Hyundai Motor, will lead the AI-defined vehicle (ADV) division; Kim Min-pyo, CEO of Doosan Robotics, will lead the fully autonomous robot division; Lee Sang-gyun, CEO of HD Hyundai Heavy Industries, will lead the core industries division; Hwang Hee, CEO of Kakao Healthcare, will lead the wellness tech division; and Baek Jun-ho, CEO of FuriosaAI, and Park Seong-hyeon, CEO of Rebellions, will serve as co-leads of the automatic content recognition (ACR) division.
