We simplified the home screen and remote control design for senior customers who have trouble using the TV because they get confused by the simple controls. In emergencies, they can ask family for help, and the TV is designed with the senior user environment in mind, including features such as timely medication reminders.
Baek Sun-pil, head of TV product planning (senior vice president) at LG Electronics, said this at the "LG Electronics lifestyle TV new product briefing" held on the 25th at LG Twin Towers in Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul. That day, LG Electronics announced the launch of a new product aimed at senior customers, the "LG Easy TV." Reflecting the voices of senior customers who want to use TVs more conveniently, LG Easy TV was custom-developed from software such as an easy home screen to hardware such as a completely redesigned remote control and a built-in camera, and convenience features such as video calls and medication reminders.
LG Electronics noted that more than 70% of TV-related inquiries from senior customers received by its service centers were about difficulties operating the TV. LG Easy TV simplified the home screen to only the essential functions to improve accessibility to smart TV features such as online video services (OTT) and games for senior customers, and newly designed a remote dedicated to Easy TV. LG Electronics said the home screen was simplified around five senior-specialized functions and favorite apps.
The dedicated Easy TV remote increases comprehension by labeling buttons with large-text explanations and adds a backlight so letters are easy to read even in the dark. A separate "Help" button on the top lets customers return to the broadcast they were watching and continue viewing anytime if an unwanted function is triggered—such as no picture due to a switch to an external input during use or an app launching by mistake—simply by pressing the Help button.
◇ Video calls with children and requests for family help… senior-care features onboard
LG Easy TV also comes with specialized features to care for senior customers, such as communicating via video call with children who live apart and getting help remotely for simple issues that occur on the TV. LG Electronics also applied a "life notifier" feature for easy-to-miss schedules such as taking medication and watering plants. While watching TV, it shows a pop-up, and in standby mode, it alerts with a pop-up and sound so schedules are not missed.
LG Electronics integrated the "LG Buddy" feature, which provides several dedicated services in collaboration with KakaoTalk, into Easy TV. With the built-in camera, customers can make video calls with family whose KakaoTalk accounts are linked. In an emergency, they can send a KakaoTalk help-request message to family using the Help button on the remote.
Family connected through LG Buddy can send photos, videos, YouTube links, and more to Easy TV. Remote TV control is also possible, so if parents have difficulty using it, children can help by changing external inputs or turning various functions off and on. The TV camera can also be used to take family photos.
◇ Senior-tailored picture and sound quality… AI analyzes usage patterns
Easy TV is designed based on LG QNED Evo, a premium liquid crystal display (LCD) TV. It also provides senior-tailored picture and sound quality, boosting brightness, saturation, and sharpness and making voices clearer to suit the audiovisual characteristics of senior customers.
AI features that analyze customer usage patterns were also added. By pressing the AI button on the remote, users can access the functions of the 2025 LG AI TV as is, including "AI Concierge," which proposes customer-tailored keywords based on time-of-day usage patterns, and "AI Search," which uses a large language model (LLM) to understand customer utterances and infer intent for search.
LG Electronics will release LG Easy TV in the domestic market starting with a live broadcast on the online brand shop (LGE.COM) on the 29th of this month. Two models, 65-inch and 75-inch, will be introduced, and domestic factory prices are 2,769,000 won for the 65-inch and 3,869,000 won for the 75-inch.
