WiseApp·Retail, a market and competitor analysis solution based on real-time app and payment data, surveyed monthly active users (MAU) of major music streaming apps and released the findings on the 23rd.
The survey found that as of Aug. 2025, the Spotify app's monthly users reached 4.24 million, an all-time high. That is a 168% increase from 1.58 million a year earlier. While other music streaming apps were flat, only Spotify continued a clear growth trend.
In 8월, the music streaming app most used by Koreans was YouTube Music, with an MAU of 10.12 million. It was followed by Melon with 6.23 million, Spotify with 4.24 million, GENIE MUSIC with 2.57 million, and FLO with 1.76 million.
Spotify has steadily added users through a variety of partnership events and new features recently, and is analyzed to be solidifying its position as the No. 3 music streaming app in Korea.
The survey was conducted by WiseApp·Retail through a sample of Korean Android and iOS smartphone users.
