Nvidia, a giant in the artificial intelligence (AI) market, and OpenAI, the developer of ChatGPT, have joined hands to build large-scale AI infrastructure.
The two corporations said on the 22nd (local time) that they have signed a new strategic partnership and that Nvidia plans to invest up to $100 billion (about 140 trillion won) in OpenAI.
Under the new partnership, Nvidia chips will be installed in infrastructure requiring at least 10 GW (gigawatts) of power to build OpenAI's AI infrastructure.
Details of the partnership will be finalized in the coming weeks, and the two corporations are aiming to start operations of the AI infrastructure they are building together in the second half of 2026.
OpenAI Chief Executive Officer Sam Altman said, "Everything starts with computing," and added, "Computing infrastructure will be the foundation of the future economy, and we will use what we are building with Nvidia to create new AI innovation and deliver it at scale to people and corporations."
