Samsung Electronics said on the 19th that it won a total of 47 awards at the prestigious global international design competition "IDEA 2025," taking two golds, three silvers, three bronzes, and 39 finalists.
The Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA), which has organized IDEA since 1980, evaluated design innovation, user experience, and social contribution, and announced this year's winners in a total of 20 institutional sector including industrial products, consumer technology, digital interaction, and packaging.
At this year's "IDEA 2025," the "Samsung Mobile Design Visual Identity System" and the "inclusive design advanced concept for home appliances" for people with low vision won the top gold award.
The "Samsung Mobile Design Visual Identity System" connects the various form factors of Galaxy mobile products into a single visual identity. By intuitively expressing the characteristics of each product's mobile form factor according to its own rules, it effectively delivered the design message of "Essential," which focuses on the product's intrinsic value.
The "inclusive design advanced concept for home appliances" for people with low vision enhances accessibility so that not only people with visual impairments and seniors but all users can use appliances more easily and conveniently.
It standardizes the shapes of control buttons and the color system across various products, and provides visual, auditory, and tactile guidance simultaneously through light, sound, and raised embossing. Through this, users, including those with low vision, can understand products more intuitively and operate them more easily.
The "Galaxy Tab S10 series," which won silver, is a premium tablet with AI optimized for a large screen. Users can easily use various AI features with the S Pen and enjoy an AI experience tailored to tablets, such as managing all devices connected to the home at once through SmartThings' "3D Map View."
Samsung Electronics was recognized across various institutional sector, including AI products, advanced concepts, and exhibitions, with 39 designs making the finalists. In particular, products that incorporate AI technology to provide users with differentiated experiences drew attention.
Mauro Porcini, chief design officer (CDO) of the DX division at Samsung Electronics, said, "Innovation born of technology and human empathy enriches all our lives," and added, "We will push the limits of technology, warmly connect people to people, and help everyone build a brighter future together."
