Vision artificial intelligence (AI) specialist Superb AI said on the 18th that it was selected as a participating corporations in the "K-Humanoid Alliance" led by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy.
The K-Humanoid Alliance is an industry-academia-research and public-private cooperation body launched by the government in Apr. this year, aiming to become one of the global "top three humanoid powers" by 2030. Research institutions such as Seoul National University, KAIST, Yonsei University, and Pohang University of Science and Technology (POSTECH), and large corporations including Samsung Electronics, LG Electronics, SK, and POSCO are participating. The government plans a total investment of 2 trillion won.
Superb AI will be responsible within the alliance for implementing humanoid visual intelligence and developing physical AI. Superb AI independently developed Korea's first vision foundation model "ZERO" and has experience applying its solutions to more than 100 manufacturing sites. Based on this, it provides essential technologies for humanoid autonomous tasks such as object detection, motion analysis, and safety control.
The company said "ZERO" is a core technology that enables the immediate field deployment of humanoids. It can be applied on-site with only text or image prompts without additional training, allowing rapid adaptation to various work environments. It completed training on 900,000 data points and placed second in the "CVPR 2025" challenge, the world's largest vision AI conference. This experience in implementing vision foundation models is directly used to implement the visual intelligence essential for humanoids' environmental perception and decision-making.
Superb AI plans to support humanoid AI development through "ZERO" and its "Superb Platform." Superb Platform is an MLOps (machine learning operations automation) solution that supports the entire AI development process from data labeling to model training and deployment. It is currently used by more than 100 corporations, including Samsung, LG Electronics, Hyundai Motor, Qualcomm, SK Telecom, Toyota, and Nippon Steel (Japan Steel).
A company official said, "Experience proven across various manufacturing sites, including autonomous driving, defect detection, and safety control, can serve as a foundation for deploying humanoids immediately in real work environments rather than laboratories."
Kim Hyeon-su, CEO of Superb AI, said, "Based on our experience implementing Korea's first vision foundation model and our proven capabilities across more than 100 manufacturing sites, we have come to play a key role in the K-Humanoid Alliance," adding, "We will help Korea lead the global humanoid industry and create a new future driven by the convergence of AI and robotics."
