Amazon, the world's largest e-commerce company, unveiled an artificial intelligence (AI) agent to support third-party sellers' online business operations. On the 17th (local time), Amazon introduced an upgraded version of the AI tool for sellers, Seller Assistant, at its annual seller conference, Accelerate, held in Seattle.
The newly unveiled Seller Assistant, unlike before, provides demand forecasting and inventory management functions. It suggests appropriate order quantities, discount timing, and when to release inventory from Amazon fulfillment centers, helping reduce warehouse expense and boost sales. While the initial version simply answered questions, the upgraded model is characterized by directly proposing sales strategies and offering actionable plans.
With this upgrade, Amazon can coordinate everything from inventory ordering and business growth planning to resolving account issues, and it plans to continue expanding features by incorporating seller feedback. The new Seller Assistant is offered free to sellers in the United States and will be expanded worldwide in the coming months.
Dharmesh Mehta, vice president of Amazon Worldwide Selling Partner Services, said, "This model has learned from 25 years of shopping behavior and reflects the COVID-19 period, supply chain disruptions, inflation, and a high-interest-rate phase." He emphasized, "This tool will save sellers expense and time and enhance business competitiveness."
Amazon has already introduced a variety of AI tools for third-party sellers, who account for more than half of total sales, and with this announcement it has further strengthened AI-based sales support.
