Physical AI developer CarbonSix said on the 18th that it will officially launch SigmaKit, Korea's first standard manufacturing robot that can be applied directly on factory floors based on AI imitation learning.
SigmaKit, launched by CarbonSix, is a toolkit based on robot AI imitation learning that anyone can apply directly to manufacturing processes without AI expertise or separate equipment, solving the inconvenience of workers having to set up systems and keep adjusting them for automation on real sites.
Because of frequent product changes and high unstructured variability, full automation in manufacturing had been difficult unless robots constantly perceived and judged situations like humans. But SigmaKit, which combines software and hardware, consists of: ▲ manufacturing-specialized artificial intelligence ▲ a robot gripper specialized for delicate tasks ▲ an intuitively operable teaching tool ▲ sensor modules, enabling full robotic automation in work areas that had been impossible.
CarbonSix, the developer that successfully developed and commercialized SigmaKit, is a technology company specialized in manufacturing that brings together experts such as CEO Mun Tae-yeon, who was deputy CEO and chief strategy officer (CSO) at SUALAB, which was acquired by U.S.-based Cognex in 2019 for 260 billion won; co-CEO Dr. Kim Je-hyeok, who has extensive experience in robot design and AI research and studied at top engineering schools in Korea and abroad including MIT, Yale University, Seoul National University, and KAIST; and Dr. Seo Hyeong-ju, chief technology officer.
