SOOP said on the 16th that it signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on "strategic collaboration for activating the digital creator economy and developing the cultural industry" with Nigeria's Federal Ministry of Arts, Culture and the Creative Economy.
The agreement aims to nurture the local digital creator ecosystem in Nigeria and support the expansion of the creative economy. Starting with the local launch of the SOOP platform, the two sides will pursue, in multiple areas, the creation of a creator ecosystem, strengthening competitiveness in the cultural industry, cultural exchange, and joint branding.
SOOP will officially roll out its platform service in Nigeria and expand its content distribution hub and user base. Through this, it plans to increase participation by local creators and, by advancing monetization models on the platform, support stable creative activities.
The two sides will also run training programs for talent discovery and development and provide new creators with content production equipment and studio space. Based on this, they will produce joint content across various fields, including music, video, web series, and live streaming, and expand collaboration opportunities between creators of the two countries.
The Nigerian culture ministry will provide policy linkage, improvements to payment and data environments, and administrative support, while SOOP will establish a content incubation structure within the platform and ways to utilize studios to strengthen the support system for creators.
