Samsung Electronics said it will begin rolling out the One UI 8 update in stages starting on the 15th. The update delivers advanced multimodal features, a UX optimized for a wide range of devices, and personalized functions.
One UI 8 will expand its list of supported devices within the year, starting with the Galaxy S25 series. Supported devices include the Galaxy S25 series, Galaxy Z Fold6, Galaxy Z Flip6, and Galaxy S24 FE, among other models.
One UI 8 offers personalized suggestions optimized for users' daily lives and protects them with AI technology. The "Now Bar" additionally shows app activity such as calls, Do Not Disturb mode, and Samsung Wallet in FlexWindow, and it integrates with third-party apps to provide more information. "Now Brief" delivers traffic conditions and key notifications in a personalized format, and users can receive music and video recommendations based on their subscriptions and interests.
Aligned with the expansion of AI features, One UI 8 introduces the security solution "KEEP." The solution encrypts and stores sensitive information and restricts access to other apps' information, while "Knox Matrix" strengthens security by automatically logging out of the Samsung account if a device is threatened. In addition, the "Secure Wi-Fi" feature adopts post-quantum cryptography, enabling safe data use even on public Wi-Fi.
With multimodal capabilities applied, One UI 8 provides a personalized AI experience. Gemini Live offers immediate voice answers, and the Circle to Search feature lets users quickly look up needed information even during games. It also supports real-time translation so users can translate the screen they are viewing in real time.
One UI 8 delivers a UX optimized for various form factors. "AI result view" helps users work smoothly without the AI-generated results blocking the screen. With drag-and-drop, users can move generated outputs to apps such as Notes or Messages to improve work efficiency. In addition, on the Galaxy Z Flip, new features have been enhanced so users can intuitively perform a variety of tasks via voice commands in FlexWindow.
The update will roll out in stages, starting in Korea and then in North America, Europe, and other regions.
