LG Electronics recently supported a drinking water facility that supplies clean water around the clock using only solar power with no separate power source, and a mobile free laundry room, in Abeokuta city in Ogun State, Nigeria.
Beyond this campaign, LG Electronics first operated a free laundry room in 2019 and won positive responses from local residents. It has also continued community-focused social contribution activities, such as donating air conditioners to hospitals.
LG Electronics installed a borehole that uses solar power as an energy source to drill and filter groundwater and supply clean water. Through this, it provides drinkable water at any time to thousands of local residents, and it stocked the laundry room with washers, dryers, air conditioners, and laundry supplies so residents can use it conveniently.
Rasheedat Adeleke-Sodiq, chair of the Abeokuta North local government, said, "This campaign, which provides clean water and sanitation, will greatly help change the daily lives of local residents," expressing thanks.
Meanwhile, as part of this campaign, LG Electronics also provided a service to inspect and repair, free of charge, LG TVs and home appliances used by local residents.
Ji Hyeong-seop, managing director and head of LG Electronics Nigeria, said, "Through a range of social contribution activities tailored to local characteristics, we will contribute to realizing LG Electronics' vision of "a better life for all.""
