RIDI announced on the 9th that it will premiere the short drama 'The swamp that eats people: The wish of the flesh-eating ghost,' adapted from the popular episode 'Salmokji' of the entertainment show 'Midnight Horror Story,' through the short drama platform 'Kanta' in Japan.
The office action drama 'Electronic Brain Director Jeong' featuring comedian Jeong Jun-ha and group ATEEZ's Yunho, which aired in August, ranked first on the 'Kanta' platform on the day of its release, and the number of new users increased by about 200% compared to the previous day.
Following that, on the 12th, a fantasy revenge drama titled 'The vampire tutoring teacher has moved in,' starring former KARA member Kang Ji-young, is set to be released. RIDI stated that it will continue to strengthen its global content competitiveness by leveraging its intellectual property (IP) expansion strategy utilizing existing entertainment and drama formats through 'Kanta.'
A RIDI representative noted, 'Kanta is not only discovering new IPs but also reinterpreting existing popular IPs into short dramas to broaden the genre's spectrum,' and added, 'Through this diversification and localization strategy for IPs, we plan to provide a wide range of K-content experiences to global users.'
