The Samsung Compliance Monitoring Committee (Compliance Monitoring Committee) announced on the 5th that it held a 'Compliance Workshop for Affiliates' the previous day at the Samsung Financial Campus in Seocho District, Seoul, with the attendance of over 80 individuals, including commissioners, secretariat staff, and compliance support and monitoring personnel from affiliated companies.
The Compliance Monitoring Committee prepared this workshop under the theme of 'Samsung Compliance in a Rapidly Changing Environment' to address issues arising from changes in external conditions and to consider responses to new compliance risks.
The event featured expert lectures on topics such as commercial law and artificial intelligence (AI), and included 'open talks' where commissioners and practical personnel from affiliated compliance monitoring organizations shared their challenges experienced in the committee's activities and practical settings and discussed improvement measures.
Commissioner Lee Chan-hee noted in his opening remarks, 'Our society is at a turning point facing significant changes not only in technology but also in various regulatory and reform issues, and corporations that are not prepared may soon face a crisis,' and emphasized the need for foresight to prepare for compliance issues that will arise in the changing future.
In an expert lecture, Professor Jung Joon-hyuk from Seoul National University's Graduate School of Law highlighted the necessity of reforming corporate internal systems and business structures by addressing the key issues of the recently amended commercial law under the theme of 'Compliance Response Measures following the Amendment of Commercial Law.'
Kim Yoo-won, the CEO of Naver Cloud, shared insights on the transformations in the AI era and corporate responses through a lecture titled 'The AI Ecosystem Being Built by Naver Cloud.'
Additionally, Professor Ryu Hyuk-sun from KAIST Business School and attorney Moon Sung gave lectures on 'Central Bank Digital Currency and Stablecoins' and 'Future Directions of Internal Corporate Investigations,' respectively.
The Compliance Monitoring Committee stated, 'We will continue to strive to ensure that the monitoring of compliance statuses for affiliates, as well as ongoing communication and cooperation with the top management of each company, can become best practices for the operation of the committee.'
