In the second quarter, the domestic PC market recorded a shipment decline of 10.1% compared to the same period last year.
According to Korea IDC on the 4th, this year, domestic PC shipments have reached 1 million units. Excluding last year's fourth quarter, which had a growth rate of 0%, the domestic PC market, which grew by 2.3% in the first quarter of last year, has shown continuous negative growth, recording a double-digit decline in the second quarter.
Korea IDC analyzed that the shipment of home PCs has decreased by 12.2% due to the premium product-centric strategies of major manufacturers and the rising prices of assembled PC components. It also noted that the delay in the replacement cycle for the corporations market due to upgrades to Windows 11 without replacing devices has contributed to the market contraction.
While the overall volume of home PCs has decreased, the proportion of next-generation artificial intelligence (AI) PCs increased by 19.3 percentage points compared to the same period last year. The share of AI PCs has exceeded 10% of all PCs since the first quarter.
