On the 1st, the National Intelligence Service and the Korea AeroSpace Administration announced that they will jointly host the 'Satellite Utilization Conference 2025' at COEX Magok from the 2nd to the 3rd.
The Satellite Utilization Conference has been held annually since 2022 to establish a cooperative ecosystem among industry, academia, research institutes, and government agencies, and to enhance synergy effects according to the expanded use of satellite information. This year's theme is 'Convergence of Satellite Information and Future Technology,' with around 800 attendees from domestic and international satellite utilization corporations, universities, research institutes, and government departments sharing various use cases, including 'AI Convergence Service Development Using Satellite Information.' The event is organized by the Korea Aerospace Research Institute (KARI).
The first day will feature keynote speeches from executives of leading overseas satellite utilization corporations such as Palantir, Airbus Defense and Space, and Maxar, followed by sessions from domestic and international corporations including ▲Planet Labs ▲Hanwha System ▲CONTEC and a session on 'Satellite-Based Disaster and Emergency Utilization Strategies.'
On the second day, corporations such as AWS, Capella Space, and LIG Nex1 will make presentations, sharing satellite utilization cases from local governments, including the Gyeonggi Climate Satellite. During the event, 34 corporations, including Satrec Initiative, TelePIX, Davio, and ICEYE, will operate exhibition booths to interact with participants.
Kim Chang-seop, the deputy chief of the National Intelligence Service, noted that 'Satellite information is becoming increasingly valuable as an important decision-making resource combined with artificial intelligence (AI) technology' and that 'As a leading agency in space security, we will communicate and cooperate closely with industry, academia, and research.'
Yoon Young-bin, the head of the Korea AeroSpace Administration, stated, 'The aerospace industry is also meeting new opportunities and innovations in the changes led by AI' and that 'We will expand investments in research and development (R&D) for the convergence of satellite information and AI, and promote private investment to create a sustainable satellite utilization industrial ecosystem.'
