Korea supports global webtoon growth with new IP production project and adaptations

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Creative Content Agency (KOCCA) announced on the 1st that the first work supported by the '2025 Global Webtoon Intellectual Property (IP) Production Support Project', titled , has proven its popularity by recording the overall number one position for three consecutive days immediately after its release on Kakao Page.

The 'Global Webtoon IP Production Support Project' was newly established this year to discover competitive content and drive the global expansion of the webtoon industry. A total of 12 major domestic production companies participated, including Daon Creative, which produced , The Grim Entertainment, known for , and RedIce Studio, known for .

Following the success of , ▲Munpia's , ▲Studio OnePick's , and ▲Studio JHS's began serialization in August, with ▲DCC Entertainment's , ▲Comic Family's <1 Million Won in a Second>, ▲Studio Rico's , ▲Jaedam Media's , and ▲TuYu Dream's among others, set to be released in turn.

KOCCA plans to provide about 20 new works by the end of this year and a total of 40 works by the first half of next year to global readers through major domestic and international platforms.

In particular, the global production company Kenaz is newly adapting the bestselling novel by French author Bernard Werber into a webtoon. At the production announcement event to be held on the 3rd at Hotel Crescendo Seoul, a specially produced promotional video will be released, and the original author Bernard Werber will attend to share his views on Korean webtoons and his thoughts on the adaptation of .

KOCCA intends to continue promotional activities by directly communicating with readers at the '2025 World Webtoon Festival' to be held in October while supporting the stable serialization of the supported works.
