GBike, which operates the personal mobility sharing service GCOO, announced on the 29th that it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Busan Police Agency's Mobile Patrol Unit 1 to launch a pilot program for attaching safety helmets to personal mobility devices (PM) to prevent safety accidents.
GBike has recently introduced a safety helmet attachment system utilizing the Busan Police Agency's logo to enhance the safety of shared electric scooters and electric bicycles, and will also install dedicated storage lockers and anti-theft devices.
This pilot program will be applied initially to 300 out of 1,500 GBike PMs currently operating in the Busan area. During the pilot operation period, GBike plans to systematically analyze theft and damage rate data and conduct citizen surveys to comprehensively evaluate user experience and safety.
Yun Jong-soo, CEO of GBike, noted, "Safety is the top priority value that GBike strives for" and added, "The agreement with the Busan Police Agency is significant as it is the first case in the industry to create an environment where users can naturally wear helmets, going beyond simple enforcement."
