It is clear that artificial intelligence (AI) will develop in a direction that can replace many tasks currently performed by humans. I believe that the competitiveness of future corporations will be directly related to the number of employees who effectively utilize AI or agents.
Jeong Gi-cheol, the Head of Team for Samsung SDS IW Development, said on the 27th at the Westin Josun Hotel in Seoul during a lecture titled 'AI and the Future' held at the SMARTCLOUD SHOW 2025. He delivered a presentation on 'SaaS in Corporations: The Future of Business Innovation Prepared with Personal Agents.' He is developing collaborative tools such as email messengers and online meeting platforms, while also developing AI-based copilot features applicable to those tools.
Jeong defined the term 'agent' as 'something that can complete tasks from unit work to connected tasks without human intervention.' He noted, 'Since the beginning of this year, the number of companies considering productivity enhancement using agent AI has been increasing,' and 'I met with global big tech companies to hear their opinions about AI agents, and the keywords 'replaces humans' or 'without human intervention' were mentioned in common.'
Jeong explained that with the emergence of large language models (LLMs) capable of understanding and generating text, developing AI agent software has become considerably easier. He stated, 'As LMMs became capable of judging specific conditions, there has been a significant transformation in software,' adding, 'Thanks to this, a system has been established where agents can autonomously complete tasks while minimizing human involvement or judgment.'
Jeong also explained the development process for personalized 'personal agents,' going beyond simple AI agents. He said, 'The work data and the methods of utilizing it, as well as work patterns, differ for each employee. I pondered how we could effectively utilize those aspects.' He further explained, 'Understanding an individual's work context or finding ways to utilize a memory area that can substitute for the individual was also a concern.' Additionally, he emphasized that while the system can utilize individual work data, access to that data should remain strictly under the individual's control.
However, even if AI agents are introduced, they become useless if employees do not utilize them. Jeong stated that there needs to be innovation in using AI actively within the work culture. He remarked, 'No matter how good an AI solution is, if it is not utilized well, it simply becomes obsolete,' and 'I believe that if there is even a single AI function that employees can use daily, it is meaningful.'
He noted, 'If a system allows agents to perform numerous repetitive tasks, or if it becomes a system that can utilize AI, each individual will likely be able to invest more time in productive work.'
