The emergence of DeepSeek has become a game changer in the artificial intelligence (AI) and cloud industry. DeepSeek, included in Huawei Cloud, has built numerous use cases globally over six months and is evolving data-driven services into knowledge-based services.
During the keynote speech at the SMARTCLOUD SHOW 2025 held on 27th at the Westin Josun Hotel in Sogong-dong, Seoul, Jiao Wang, Vice President of Huawei Cloud APAC, said this. He foresaw that with the introduction of AI cloud, existing data would be recreated as knowledge, leading to the emergence of entirely new intelligent services and hardware.
Vice President Wang noted, 'Huawei Cloud holds a position of a new challenger in Korea but has rapidly grown since 2018, strengthening its presence in Southeast Asia, including Thailand and Hong Kong,' adding that 'Huawei has leveraged its long-standing expertise in the ICT field to adopt an open model that embraces various platforms, allowing for a faster growth rate compared to competitors.'
He emphasized that unlike existing cloud services, cloud services optimized for AI are needed in the AI era. Vice President Wang explained, 'A new platform that matches the growth of AI is necessary. Looking at the figures from 2023 and 2024, expenditures in the enterprise sector have grown sixfold, while spending on AI applications has also increased by 7.7 times,' adding that 'investments are taking place not only in large language models but also in applications, meaning many investments are happening in the field of actual services.'
Vice President Wang asserted that Huawei Cloud is optimized for AI models. He stated, 'AI models are number one in the field of cloud technology specialized for AI,' and 'Huawei supports 70 large language models, including its own and DeepSeek, across seven industrial sectors.' For instance, Huawei Cloud utilizing DeepSeek is accumulating use cases in various areas around the world, including legal fields and copyright.
He also expressed confidence in the stability of data security, saying, 'While other cloud vendors have experienced over 40 large-scale incidents, Huawei Cloud has had zero cases.' He added, 'Particularly in the financial sector, where cloud construction technology is critical, over 50 financial corporations have successfully adopted Huawei Cloud in recent years to build cloud environments from the existing conventional servers.'
