KT HCN won the excellence award in both the individual and institutional sector categories at the '2025 Broadcasting AI Video Contest' hosted by the Ministry of Science and ICT and organized by the Korea Communications Agency (KCA), taking home two of the eight award-winning works.
More than 40 video contents on free themes utilizing AI technology were submitted for this contest by domestic broadcasters. KT HCN was the only cable TV broadcaster to make the list of winners.
In the individual category, the music video 'We, Neighborhood, People' by PD Heo Seung-beom from the Seoul business division media team was selected as an excellent work. This piece is an emotional music video format focusing on the theme of restoring relationships and revitalizing communities within disconnected areas, capturing the stories of everyday neighbors and townspeople through AI technology. It conveys a message that revives the value of local communities, emphasizing human stories beyond technological experimentation.
The historical documentary 'Jeonsai Gadonan' by PD Lee Joo-hyun from the Busan business division media team, which won the excellence award in the institutional sector, utilizes AI technology to time-slip the governor of Dongnae, Song Sang-hyun, into the present day, revealing the Dongnae Castle battle and the civilian massacres by Japanese troops during the Japanese invasion of Korea in 1592. Through narration and video direction, it recreates Song Sang-hyun's loyalty and the sacrifices of the people, presenting historical events with modern lessons.
Won Heung-jae, CEO of KT HCN, noted, 'We will continue to realize the essence of broadcasting through content that captures the stories of local communities and people, preserving local characteristics and public interest.' KT HCN actively utilizes AI technology, and 10% of all employees within the group have obtained AI certifications to enhance their practical capabilities.
