The Ministry of Science and ICT held the graduation ceremony for the 4th class of the 'Metaverse Academy' on the 26th at the Metaverse Hub in Pangyo, Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province.
The Metaverse Academy is a specialized workforce development program that started its first class in 2022 to cultivate young developers and creators and support employment and entrepreneurship. It was designed to develop personnel who can be immediately deployed in the virtual convergence industry through task-oriented, practical training.
The program has achieved an employment and entrepreneurship rate of 89.7% over the past three years. It has produced results including 28 awards at external competitions, 181 fusion projects that can be commercialized, and trained 913 specialized personnel in virtual convergence.
This event was held to celebrate the graduation of 122 trainees who successfully completed the training course conducted from March 4th to August 8th. Along with the graduation ceremony, awards were given to outstanding trainees, special lectures, presentations of excellent projects, and a recruiting day for corporations were also held.
Hwang Gyu-cheol, director of software policy at the Ministry of Science and ICT, said, 'During this academy training course, our young talents demonstrated excellent capabilities in utilizing advanced technologies such as AI to solve industry problems and connect with creative project development,' and 'the government will continue to actively support various collaboration models that link education and corporations so that young people can stand out in AI and the overall virtual convergence industry.'
